Quote for the Day

“…even things of no great intrinsic merit, like that chair in the corner of this room, have a very good chance of outlasting you and me. It doesn’t seem right, does it?”

  1. As I dusted a one hundred year old table in our house yesterday I thought about it’s voyage and how the heck it ended up with me at it’s base talking to it. Most likely it will outlast me and I love it. Oh the stories it could tell. I don’t mind at all.

  2. Generally speaking I don’t like to “pimp” my own stuff but your quote reminded me of something I wrote not too long ago. You may delete it at will!

  3. Another way of seeing it would be to see life from the point of view of the chair.
It looks at you thinking “If only I could move around at will, visit places that I can only imagine, hear music, cry at the sunsets, feel the joy of holding my own baby, play a piano… yeah, I know it will all last for only a short while, but if I could trade my 1000 year potential for only 10 years of that…!”

  4. Thanks for the perspectives, glad it was thought provoking!
